Cory Dague Cedar Rapids IA Obituary, Death: With heavy hearts, the family and friends of Cory Michael Dague announce his peaceful passing on April 13, 2025, at the age of 41. A beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, cousin, and friend, Cory was a shining light in the lives of all who knew him. His unexpected departure has left an immense void, but his memory will continue to bring warmth, laughter, and inspiration to those he touched.
Born on March 22, 1984, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Cory grew up in a close-knit family surrounded by love, support, and a deep connection to his faith. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 2002, where he not only excelled academically but built a legacy of camaraderie and sportsmanship through his time on the football and baseball teams. His competitive spirit and team-first attitude left an indelible mark on his coaches, teammates, and lifelong friends.
After high school, Cory pursued a skilled trade and found his calling with AWS through the Glaziers Union. His work ethic, dedication, and pride in craftsmanship were evident in every project he touched. Cory’s colleagues admired his integrity and reliability—he was the kind of person who could be counted on without hesitation, and he approached every task with a positive attitude and a willingness to help others.
Family was everything to Cory. He was a devoted son to his parents, Terry (Angela) Dague and Cheryl (Kevin) Saathoff, who raised him with values rooted in kindness, humility, and faith. Cory had a deep love and respect for his siblings: Emily Boettcher (husband Nate and their children Grace, Elin, Reagan, and Olivia), Alex Dague (wife Zadie and children Aubree, Gunner, Peyton, Solomon, Thomas, and Jack), Casey Dague, and Nicholas Saathoff. He also shared close bonds with his step-siblings Brett Paulsen (wife Nikki and children Jacob, Vivian, and Luka), Melissa Williams (husband Jason and daughter Lauren), and Sarah Hekel (Derek). He was the proud uncle to many nieces and nephews, who will forever remember Uncle Cory’s funny voices, spontaneous jokes, and the way he made every family gathering more fun.
Cory’s love and respect for his extended family were evident, particularly his close relationship with his maternal grandmother, Dolores Blood. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Donald Blood, and paternal grandparents Everett and Fern Dague, whose memory he honored throughout his life.
He was also a man of deep spiritual conviction. Cory’s relationship with the Lord guided his actions and gave him a sense of peace even in difficult times. He was a member of Antioch Church, a place that nurtured his faith and offered him a spiritual home filled with community, service, and purpose. For those who wish to honor Cory’s life, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to Antioch Church in his memory—continuing his legacy of faith and support for others.
The celebration of Cory’s life will begin with a visitation on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom in Cedar Rapids. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Antioch Church, 443 Cross Road, Marion, Iowa, with a luncheon to follow at the church. All who knew and loved Cory are welcome to attend and share in the remembrance of a truly special life.
